Solidarity at Strode College

Strode College staff unions were joined by students and had a very successful day raising awareness of the issues and recruiting new members. They gathered over 400 signatures.

Report from Duncan Cameron, UCU Branch Chair, Strode College:

“A really well supported Day of Action at Strode College in Somerset. UCU members stood alongside other staff and students to protest against government cuts to the FE sector with 400+ signing the petition. A positive and animated day of solidarity and raising awareness in difficult times.”

Thanks Marie. It was a really good day and particularly interesting to talk to so many students about their opinions and understanding of the political situation. Its been a tough half term for many staff as we have already been feeling the cuts sharply in some areas of the college and it was a real boost to come together last Monday and wave balloons and banners to defend education. This won’t be the last time..
